{"id":6,"date":"2009-01-31T16:18:59","date_gmt":"2009-01-31T22:18:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.isitaboutmycube.com\/cooking\/?p=6"},"modified":"2009-01-31T16:18:59","modified_gmt":"2009-01-31T22:18:59","slug":"candied-orange-peel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.isitaboutmycube.com\/cooking\/?p=6","title":{"rendered":"Candied Orange Peel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">1 Orange<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">1 cup sugar, divided<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">\u00be cup water<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Using a vegetable peeler (or better, the special end of a zester), remove ornage part of peel from fruit in long strips.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Trim off any white layer.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Cut peel into narrow strips, about 1\/8 inch wide.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Stir \u00be cup sugar and \u00be cup water in a heavy sauce pan over medium-low heat until sugar dissolves.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Bring to broil.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Reduce heat and simmer 2 minutes.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Add orange peel; simmer 15 minutes.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Place remaining \u00bc cup sugar in small bowl.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Using slotted spoon, remove peel from syrup and transfer to sugar.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Toss to coat.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Cool, tossing occasionally.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Cover bowl and let stand at room temperature overnight.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Keep covered.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The tart orange peel pairs great with the sweet sugar.
